Colóquio Novo/Antigo: ESCOLA DO PORTO
The ‘Colóquio Novo/Antigo: FERNANDO TÁVORA’, is part of the FCT Exploratory Project ‘Atlas of Architectural Heritage Design: Contributions from the School of Porto’ (EXPL/ART-DAQ/1551/2021), coordinated by Teresa Cunha Ferreira and Rui Fernandes Póvoas, ongoing at CEAU/FAUP.
The colloquium aims to discuss and disseminate practices of intervention in the built environment developed by architects trained at the School of Fine Arts of Porto (ESBAP), which are considered to have a pedagogical impact on the professional practice of architects.
The programme includes the presentation of design practices by Martin Boesch, Alexandre Alves Costa and Sergio Fernandez (Atelier 15), Pedro Ramalho, Adalberto Dias and João Mendes Ribeiro.
At the event, the research project and the e-book ‘Atlas of the Project in Architectural Heritage: Contributions from the Oporto School’, edited by Teresa Cunha Ferreira, David Ordoñez-Castañon and Rui Fernandes Póvoas, will also be presented. It provides a renewed look at practices of intervention in the built environment, through a critical narrative of the process of design and construction (before, during and after the intervention).
This colloquium is also part of the UNESCO Chair in ‘Heritage, Cities and Landscapes. Sustainable Management, Conservation, Planning and Design’ and is supported by Banco Santander and Pretensa.
