Colóquio Novo/Antigo: FERNANDO TÁVORA
Last Saturday, May 27th, the ‘Colóquio Novo/Antigo: FERNANDO TÁVORA’ took place at Fundação Marques da Silva, Porto. The Colloquium brought together a diverse group of people connected by a common feeling of empathy towards Fernando Távora’s work and personality. Friends, former collaborators, colleagues, clients and researchers from different generations and backgrounds gathered to discuss much more than the architect’s projects in existing buildings, the main theme of the colloquium. Stories and memories shared by participants reflected Távora’s unusual and fascinating personality. They recalled his way of living and doing architecture, discussed the meaning of his work and agreed on the importance of his legacy, which has to be revisited, questioned, acknowledged and preserved.
The session concluded with the presentation of two books that result from the project coordinated by Teresa Cunha Ferreira, David Ordóñez Castañón and Eleonora Fantini. The books ‘Novo/Antigo. Fernando Távora: Obras’ and ‘Novo/Antigo: Fernando Távora: Conversas’ will soon be available for sale.
